Music Performance

This BTEC Level 3 National Certificate in Music Performance course is suitable for anyone who sings or plays an instrument. It is not necessary to have instrumental lessons. The course is open to classical and popular musicians due to the flexibility of the optional units.

The course allows learners to develop their performance capabilities and increase their aptitude on their given instrument through dedicated rehearsal time and performance. It also allows students to gain an effective knowledge of event organisation, understanding of musical styles, and an insight into becoming a recording artist.

You will enjoy the independence of dedicated practice time, as well as the support from your teachers and peers. You will have the chance to gain UCAS points from doing something you love.

Wider Opportunities

Students will enjoy participating in a wide range of extracurricular activities such as Orchestra, Choir, Big Band, Wind Band, pop groups and chamber ensembles. We also arrange a number of visits to see live performances of world-class quality, such as the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Opera House and Glyndebourne Opera.

What Can I Do Next?

Music is a universal language, and this performance qualification will offer learners creative freedom within a structured framework. In studying Music Performance, you will develop your communication; self management; problem solving, research and planning skills; not to mention developing your confidence not only as a performer but as a person. This qualification could lead onto performance at a higher level; or it could just be a way for you to continue making music alongside your studies.
